The Pee Dee Indian Nation of Upper South Carolina, Chief Carolyn Chavis Bolton, was also approved for state recognition.

Chiefs seated upon the commission, along with
guests, at the annual Waccamaw Pau Wau.
The South Carolina Indian Affairs Commission has set the following goals for the years
January 2007 through December 2009 as its years four and five portion of the South
Carolina Indian Affairs Commission Strategic Action Plan:
  • The SCIAC shall commit to learning, researching, and addressing laws in South Carolina
    that affect the civil rights and/ or well being of its indigenous people
  • The SCIAC, through its designated representative, shall directly interface with the office of
    the Governor regarding the needs of South Carolina ’s American Indian population
